Kimberly Galva has taught violin for over 20 years and shared the love of music with students of all ages and backgrounds. Ms. Galva trained at the Oberlin Conservatory (BA in Neuroscience, Oberlin College) and DePaul University (MMus in Violin Performance) and completed certification in Books 1-7 with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She served as Chair of Suzuki Strings at The Suzuki-Off School for Young Musicians and developed the Pathways Program for children recently adopted from the foster care system at DePaul University’s Community Music Division. She is currently on the faculty at Levine Music.
Kimberly is founder and Director of The Violin School of Cleveland Park offering weekly private lessons and bi-weekly group classes to students ages 3 and up. The curriculum emphasizes technical proficiency, expressive artistry, and musicianship to set students on a path to a well-rounded understanding of music and violin playing. Students develop poise through regular performances in the community. Ms. Galva’s students have won opportunities to solo with local orchestras and concertmaster positions in school and regional groups.
Kimberly is an accomplished performer who freelances in the Washington, DC area and has performed with the Washington Chamber Orchestra, Choralis, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Concert Opera of Washington DC, Concert Artists of Baltimore, as well as many other orchestral, choral and chamber groups. Kimberly is an avid performer of the solo works of J. S. Bach and also enjoys jazz and folk/rock.
