Kimberly Galva studied music at Oberlin Conservatory while earning a BA in Neuroscience from Oberlin College. She graduated from DePaul University with a MMus in Violin Performance. Kimberly played for two seasons with the highly selective Civic Orchestra of Chicago and gave chamber music concerts and educational lectures as part of their MusiCorps program. She performed frequently with orchestras and chamber ensembles in her hometown of Chicago and now plays in the Washington, DC area, where she makes her home. Concerts with the Washington Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Sinfonietta and Alexandria Symphony Orchestra in such notable venues as the Kennedy Center, National Cathedral, Schlesinger Hall and Orchestra Hall have been highlights. Ms. Galva has had the good fortune to work with luminaries of the music world including Midori, Yo-Yo Ma, Elisabeth Matesky, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Albert Igolnikov among others. She has benefited immensely from their guidance and seeks to pass that knowledge on to her students.

Ms. Galva teaches in her home studio, Mountain Talent School, and serves on the faculty of the Levine School of Music. The Mountain is a metaphor for the perseverance and diligence necessary to gain skill in playing the violin. In a joyful, nurturing and challenging lesson environment, Ms. Galva guides her students in climbing the mountain, one step at a time. She is located in Cleveland Park and accepts students from 3 years of age. Her focus in teaching is developing excellence in students through the Suzuki and Traditional methods of instruction.
